GREENSBORO FIRMS WIN 2007 PIEDMONT BUSINESS ETHICS AWARD

GREENSBORO – Atlantic Webworks and Merz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. have been awarded the 2007 Piedmont Business Ethics Award, at the Annual PBEA Awards Luncheon held today.

2007 WinnerEstablished locally in 2000, the Piedmont Business Ethics Award honors businesses that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in everyday business dealings and in response to specific crises and challenges. The two Piedmont winners will now move on to the national American Business Ethics Award competition.

The awards ceremony, held at Starmount Forest Country Club and sponsored by the Greensboro Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, also recognized six other finalist companies ranging from fewer than 50 employees to more than 500 employees. In addition to the two winners, finalists included: Apple Rock Displays, Automotive Fasteners, Beyond Email, Henry Wurst Inc, Jessup Service Company and SIGCOM.

An independent panel of judges drawn from Piedmont academia evaluated all of the local companies which entered the 2007 competition.

2007 WinnerAssociate North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby, the keynote speaker, congratulated the finalists and winners in his remarks. Gary Fly, CEO of Freeway Foods and a past award recipient, presided as the Master of Ceremonies. Sheryl Austin of DMJ and Melanie Tuttle of Schell Bray Aycock Able & Livingston presented the awards.

The Society’s Greensboro Chapter is part of a national network of more than 200 SFSP chapters. Founded in 1928, the Society is headquartered in Bryn Mawr, PA, and has nearly 20,000 members nationwide who help families, individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals.
